Safety Tips

  1. Always keep a first aid kit on all levels of your home. Make sure even your children know its location.
  2. Always keep at least one fire extinguisher on all levels of your home and check for expiration dates.
  3. Areas where your fire extinguisher should be readily available: Garage, Kitchen, near your fireplace, laundry rooms, utility closets, next to your outdoor grills (Websites to purchase your fire extinguisher: Grainger.com or Uline.com)
  4. Make sure if you are burning trash such as leaves or debris that you are following safety guidelines and that you check with your local fire department.
  5. Routinely check your fire alarms.
  6. You and your entire family can become CPR Certified at ICPRI.com. We highly encourage this for your entire family!

    Safety Tips

In case of an Emergency:

  1. Make sure you and your family have an escape route and practice it regularly.
  2. Make you and your family have flashlights with fresh batteries close and available
  3. Drop ladders on upper floors for exiting.
  4. Make sure older children know how to open windows and know close doors behind them during fires to keep out additional smoke.
  5. To enter a bathroom climb into a shower and turn on the water if they are unable to exit the home and to cover their faces with a wet cloth for breathing
  6. Make sure your children know what a fire alarm sounds like
  7. Make sure your children know where to go for help such as a neighbor’s house, start teaching them these things at an early age.
